Juggling · Chapter 2

Once a Year, My Wife

Reggie and Josie lie in bed together after a date, the conversation turning to their future. They have known each other for one month, since Reggie asked Josie to coffee at Nester's Market. Josie, who plans to be a lawyer, and Reggie trade wry, explicit hypotheticals about her marrying a senior lawyer and cheating on him with Reggie, about Reggie's future marriage and his intention to be honest with a wife about Josie, and about the logistics of hiding the affair. Josie admits she would cheat and lie, and that Reggie's long-game patience unnerves her; Reggie sets a rule that after she is with her husband she must shower and douche before seeing him. They talk about social media exposure and Reggie proposes an annual long weekend trip to places like Guatemala, Iceland, and Paris, which Josie accepts as 'already growing.' The chapter ends with Reggie about to act on another promise and noting that Josie had said she had somewhere to be.

Reggie
That was...memorable.
Josie
She makes a sound that is barely a word — more a long, soft exhale through her nose, something between a laugh and a groan.Memorable.She says it back at him, low, her voice still a little wrecked at the edges. That's — yeah. That's one word for it. I genuinely cannot feel my legs, Reggie. Like. Both of them. Gone. I'm just going to need you to accept that I live here now.
Reggie
I have liquid you all over my face, my hair, my chest, my arms and up my nose. And possibly in my ears.
Josie
She bursts out laughing — not the polished kind but the helpless, full-body kind, the kind that shakes the mattress and makes her curl forward instinctively before his arms remind her she has nowhere to go and she sinks back into him again.Oh my god.She gets that out and then loses it again for a second, one hand coming up to cover her face, shoulders still shaking.I am — I'm so sorry. I'm not sorry. I'm a little sorry. You should probably shower. I should probably shower. Neither of us is moving, so I guess we're just marinating in the situation until one of us develops actual ambition.
Reggie
I'll shower eventually but I won't get water in my nostrils. I want to smell you for as long as possible.
Josie
She goes very still for a second. Her hand drops from her face. She turns her head slightly, not enough to see him, just enough that her cheek is almost against his arm. That is —She stops. Starts again, softer. You can't just say things like that. I'm going to remember you said that for a very long time, Reggie. Fair warning.
Reggie
I say it every time. You'd think you'd get used to it. I gave you three orgasms tonight. You know what that means, right?
Josie
She turns her head a little further this time, enough to actually look back at him over her shoulder, one eyebrow lifted.Every time. I'm going to need more data points before I accept that claim. And no, what does it mean. Tell me what it means, because the way you said it, there's definitely a punchline or a clause or something and I want to hear you say it out loud.
Reggie
It means next time you come over, you're getting it up the butt. Fair warning.
Josie
There is a pause — a full, genuine pause — and then she loses it completely. Not the mattress-shaking kind this time but the silent kind, the kind where you're laughing too hard for sound to come out, shoulders heaving, one hand slapping the pillow in front of her because she has to put the energy somewhere. The sound arrives about three seconds late, high and helpless.Oh — oh, that is NOT —She can't finish it. She tries again. That is not how orgasm debt works, Reggie. I did not agree to those terms. Nobody agreed to those terms. I want to see the contract. Three orgasms and the fourth one is a tariff. You have invented a tariff system for my body and I just want you to know that I think that's — I'm going to be thinking about this in the library tomorrow and I'm going to lose it and it's going to be your fault entirely.
Reggie
You know you'll let me. You always do. And I'll do my best to give you an orgasm after.
Josie
The laughter stops. Not abruptly — it just runs out, like a tide going out, and what's left is her lying very still against him. She exhales slowly through her nose. You are —She stops. Tries a different angle. You're not wrong. Which I was absolutely not going to admit out loud, and here I am, admitting it out loud, and you didn't even have to push very hard. The after orgasm had better be good, Reginald. I have standards.
Reggie
You know we've only known each other a month? One month ago, I asked you to join me for coffee at Nester's Market.
Josie
She's quiet for a moment, and then she makes a soft sound. Her fingers find his arm, trace the edge of it without any particular destination. One month. Nester's Market. You were ahead of me in the coffee line and you turned around and just — asked. Like it was nothing. Like people do that. I thought about it the whole rest of that day. Whether I'd said yes because I actually wanted to or just because you caught me so completely off guard that my mouth answered before my brain could weigh in. And then I decided I didn't care which one it was because the coffee was good and you made me laugh twice before I finished it. One month. It feels like longer and it also feels like nothing at all.
Reggie
I'm still too old for you. Although if we wait long enough, when I'm 85, you'll be 74 and nobody will notice then.
Josie
She's quiet for a moment, and then her fingers stop their slow trace along his arm and she makes a sound that's almost a laugh but comes out softer than that.Eighty-five and seventy-four.She says it quietly, tasting the math of it.You did the arithmetic. You actually did the arithmetic right now, in this bed, after all of that, and the answer you came up with is that we just have to wait fifty years and then nobody will notice. I don't actually think you're too old for me, for the record. I think you think you're too old for me, which is a different problem and one I am currently too drained to argue properly. Ask me again when I can feel my legs. But Reggie — when you're eighty-five, you'd better still be saying things I'm going to remember for a long time. That's a condition. Non-negotiable.
Reggie
When I'm 85 and you're 74, you'll have been married for almost 50 years to someone else, getting ready to celebrate your golden wedding anniversary. I wonder if we'll have affairs during your marriage. I hope so.
Josie
She goes quiet. Not the laughing kind of quiet — the other kind. Her fingers stop moving on his arm.Fifty years married to someone else. She says it once, flat, like she's reading a sign she doesn't like. You've already written the whole story, haven't you. I hope so too, by the way. That's the depressing part.
Reggie
You know your husband won't be as good in bed as I am, right? And you'll lie to him and say you never take it up the ass, that's disgusting, all the while saving it for the next time you see me.
Josie
She bursts out laughing — the helpless, silent kind again, shoulders shaking against him.Oh my god.She presses her face into the pillow for a second, then turns back. You are so bad. Also probably true and I hate you a little bit for that.
Reggie
You are the cause of endless moral angst for me. I try not to lie to people. Not never, but almost never. But I would really like to cheat with you until we're so old that it's more of an idea than an act, and now I am torturing logic and reason to justify that somehow.
Josie
She's still for a long moment. His arms are around her, her back against his chest, and she doesn't move away. Just breathes.Moral angst. About me. I'm not going to make that easier for you, Reggie. I'm really not.
Reggie
Oh hush, you're the one cheating. I never promised your future husband anything. Would you really cheat with me? And lie to his face about it?
Josie
She's quiet for just a beat, and then she turns her head back over her shoulder to look at him, and the expression on her face is complicated — honest in a way that isn't entirely comfortable.Yeah. I would. And yes, I'd lie to his face. And the worst part is I don't even feel as bad about that as I should. What does that say about me.
Reggie
See, part of me thinks, "What a bitch for cheating on her husband," and the other part of me thinks, "I can't imagine not holding this woman in my arms until I'm in an old folks' home. And maybe even still then."
Josie
She doesn't say anything for a moment. His arms tighten slightly around her and she lets them. Both of those things are true about me, Reggie. Which means you're in trouble. And so am I.
Reggie
You want to be a lawyer. You're paid to lie and cheat and feel good about it. You go to school for years to polish that skill. I have to figure it out from scratch.
Josie
She laughs — short, startled, a little helpless — and she can feel it move through both of them where they're pressed together. That is the most unfair thing you have ever said to me. And completely accurate. God. I am going to be such a good liar, Reggie. You have no idea.
Reggie
And indulge my hypothetical, counsellor. If he finds out and gives you an ultimatum, "It's me or that brown guy, Josie, pick one," what will you choose?
Josie
She goes very still. His arms are still around her, the room is dark and warm, and she doesn't answer right away.You.After a breath:And then I'd hate myself for it. And then I'd probably call you anyway.
Reggie
You say that now. I think you'd choose a third option. You'd tell him, "Of course I'm choosing you, dear husband," and then work much harder to hide us better.
Josie
A slow exhale through her nose....Yeah.She presses back into him a little more. That's probably the accurate version. Which makes me worse and also smarter. Both at once. You're terrible at letting me have illusions about myself, Reggie.
Reggie
I do that. Your illusions are silly anyway. I always make it sound like I'm coercing you for anal but the truth is that if I stopped doing that, you'd start asking for it from behind. And you'd be irritated at me for making you ask instead of just taking it like I do now.
Josie
That is. Annoyingly correct.
Reggie
You have it much easier than I do, anyway. If I get married, yes, I will want to keep cheating with you, but if my wife ever asked me to my face if I was screwing other women, I'd tell her yes. Which means I'm probably in for more divorces than you are. Or just fewer marriages because most girls ask that before saying yes.
Josie
She's quiet for a moment, and then she laughs — low, a little sad at the edges. You'd just tell her.She says it like she's turning a strange object over in her hands. To her face. I'd marry you myself if you didn't want a tradwife, Reggie. That's the actual tragedy here. You're too honest for your own marriage.
Reggie
You'd probably cheat on me, too. And then you'd clue in that he wasn't as good in bed and you didn't even come but you'd keep doing it because sneaking around is fun.
Josie
She laughs — not the loud kind, just a short huff of breath through her nose, and she pulls his arm a little tighter around herself.Yeah. I absolutely would. And I'd tell myself it was research. Very thorough research.
Reggie
You know how I'd deal with that?
Josie
She tilts her head back slightly, one eye half-open.How.
Reggie
I'd let you. I'd tell you, "I know you're screwing that other guy. Have fun. I'm still screwing the same other two women I've been screwing for years. And I am going to screw some total stranger this week just so you feel jealous. And yes, I still love you and have no plans to divorce you."

And that would probably totally ruin it for you and you might stop.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment. Long enough that he might think she's fallen asleep. Then she laughs — just once, soft and a little helpless. That would absolutely ruin it. And I would definitely still cheat anyway because I am apparently a worse person than either of us thought. But the other girl part. That one actually stings a little. Which is rich, coming from me right now.
Reggie
You'd cheat anyway but probably not with that same guy. And the odds of your finding someone who gives you orgasms as reliably and intensely as I do are low. Not zero but low. And every time you found a new guy to cheat with, I'd find out and I'd tell you I know, and that would ruin it for you. Eventually, you'd resent me for ruining all your affairs. But you'd still fuck me as much as I want because, well, orgasms.
Josie
She laughs — actually laughs, the real kind — and then makes a sound like she's genuinely annoyed at how funny it is.I would resent you so much. And yes. Obviously still fuck you. That's the most depressing sentence I've ever agreed to this fast.
Reggie
Interestingly, I am not sure you'd cheat on your future husband with more than just me. You might want to but logistics would get in the way. You actually want to be a good lawyer, so there's 60 hours a week. And you have to show up at home to keep the marriage. I am not sure there's time in the day for more than the hubby and me, occasionally. And because it would become my goal in life to make your orgasms so intense you can't even walk after, you would not be walking around sexually frustrated at all.
Josie
She snorts — small, involuntary, completely undignified.Sixty hours a week at the office, keep the husband happy, and then fit you in somewhere on a Tuesday. You've basically described my entire future calendar and the worst part is it sounds exhausting and also fine. Sexually frustrated except for you. God. That's either a threat or a promise and I can't tell the difference anymore.
Reggie
That's the one risk surface in the plan. Sexual frustration with your husband. If he sucks in bed, which he probably will since most men do, you might start resenting the weekly or monthly sex-duty with him. And to balance that, you'll fantasize about blowing up my marriage so you'll secretly hope we get caught. It'll be fun.
Josie
Secretly hope we get caught. Yeah. I'd probably tell myself I didn't want that, and then I'd leave a receipt somewhere. Somewhere findable. Because I'm a lawyer and I know exactly how to hide things and I'd still leave the receipt.
Reggie
You're a good lawyer. You'd leave a receipt where my wife would find it, and hope she wouldn't tell your husband.
Josie
She's still for a beat. Then she laughs — one short, quiet sound.Oh, that's — Yeah. Exactly that. Find his receipt, don't find mine. Keep all the good parts. I told you I was going to be a good liar, Reggie.
She turns over in his arms — properly this time, facing him, close enough that she has to tip her chin up to see his face. Her expression is trying to be casual and not quite getting there. That other girl you like. Are you thinking about marrying her?
Reggie
No. She doesn't want to be a tradwife any more than you do. And she's less amoral than you are so I'm not sure she'll even cheat with me after she gets married.
Josie
Less amoral. So she's the one who'd actually walk away clean. I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse about myself, Reggie.
Reggie
You know, all this talk might not survive you finding some guy you love. You might call me up one day and look very serious and tell me, Reggie, I know what I said but I really love him, and I just can't do it to him. And you know what I'll do?
Josie
She looks at him, really looks at him. You'll let me go. Won't you.
Reggie
Sort of. I will tell you I love you, wish you lifelong health and happiness and I'd mean it, and I'd kiss you goodbye and never contact you again. But I wouldn't unfriend you anywhere. And I wouldn't block you. And I'd stay friends with your friends. And I'd wait for the initial intense love to dim into respect and regard and shared lifelong goals, and I'd wait for you to miss the intensity, miss sneaking into my condo saying you're going to be at the library, miss giving me a girl shower and having me love it instead of wincing like your husband will. And I'd wait for that text to come. It might take a few months, a few years, maybe even a few decades, although I doubt the latter. But I think it will come. And you won't have to wait long for me to text back.
Josie
She stares at him. She doesn't say anything for a long moment, just looks at his face that close to hers. That's not letting me go. That's — Reggie, that's the long game. And the worst part is you're probably right about the text. I hate that you're probably right about the text.
Reggie
Might as well text sooner then, since you know you're going to.
Josie
She stares at him for another second. Then she closes her eyes and laughs.Damn it, Reggie. She opens her eyes. You are the worst. The absolute worst. ...What would the text even say.
Reggie
Hi. Just thought of you. Saw your post. Nice new car/boat/whatever. I ran into Ronnie, remember him? We should catch up sometime. Nothing improper, we're both married. Just coffee maybe. We could invite our spouses. Or not, they'd probably just be bored, just stories about old times. Tuesday afternoon? Sure, I can make that work.

And before you know it, you're begging for me to give it to you up the ass because your husband thinks that's unsanitary and won't do it.
Josie
She buries her face in his chest and her shoulders shake — the silent laughing kind again.Hi, just thought of you.She says it in a voice that is absolutely the voice of a woman who has received exactly that text, breathless, muffled against him.Nothing improper. We could invite our spouses. You have rehearsed that. You have had that text ready for years. You probably have it saved in your drafts. And yes. Obviously yes. To all of it. The coffee and the spouses being bored and the Tuesday and — He's going to think that's unsanitary and I'm going to lie about it and the whole cycle starts again. You planned this, didn't you. You've had the whole architecture done for years.
Reggie
Yes, but never as a plan. As an observation on how things work. And you know, the part I can't tell if it's me rationalizing something I want or if it's real, is that I am honestly unsure if it's immoral. You're a young aspiring lawyer who will probably marry an older established lawyer. You're also a beautiful young woman who is EXTREMELY sexual. And you've found one guy on the planet who can make you come. Twice. Three times. Four if I feel like it, although then you really won't be able to walk for a while. The odds of your QC husband being able to sexually satisfy you approach zero. Our current system says you're a slut for cheating on him. My brain can't reconcile that. Are you really supposed to go the next 50 years only having orgasms on the bathroom floor while the shower is running so your husband can't hear you moan? If that's what the system is asking of you, the system sucks.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment, face still close to his, the dark room holding all of it.The system sucks. Reggie, I've thought about this. Not in those words. But I've thought about it. And I don't have a better answer than you do. Which is uncomfortable for a future lawyer to admit.
Reggie
Tell me something? Women have no pleasure receptors up their ass according to Google, and yes I looked it up. Why do you want it up the ass so much? I don't even reach around during it, like I do for vaginal. I just fuck you hard up the ass and come. It's all for me. And yes, I usually go down on you after so you have an orgasm, but the anal act itself appears to have nothing in it for you. But you light up when I tell you you're getting it up the butt like no other way, even though you pretend it's torture.
Josie
She's quiet for a moment, actually thinking about it. Her chin is tipped up toward him.Because it's completely yours. There's nothing in it for me physically. You're right. Google's right. But you just — take it. You don't ask twice. You don't check in every thirty seconds. You don't make a big thing of it. And somehow that — that's the thing. You wanting it that much. Me giving you something I can't give anyone else without it being a whole conversation. It's yours and you just — have it. And I get to watch you completely lose your mind over me, which is. Better than an orgasm, Reggie. Don't tell anyone I said that.
Reggie
You'll get to watch it next time. I guarantee you. And no, I won't ask permission.
Josie
She exhales — slow, almost inaudible, and her fingers curl slightly against his arm.I know you won't.She says it very quietly, and there is absolutely nothing in her voice that sounds like a complaint.
Reggie
You have it much easier than I do. I joked about telling my wife the truth. The actual truth is I'd tell her long before we got serious. I'm not sure I'd even sleep with a girl without telling her about you. I need her to accept it because I'm not giving it up willingly.
Josie
She stills completely. You'd tell her about me. That's — Reggie. That's not a small thing. And she'd have to say yes before you'd even sleep with her. Before. That's not most men.
Reggie
Right. Except she doesn't have to say yes. She just has to not say no. Which is a subtle but important difference. Getting a girl to say "I accept that you're screwing another girl and haven't promised to stop" is too big an ask. Telling a girl "We aren't exclusive and yes, there's someone else" and seeing if she still accepts going out with you next week is an easier ask. One requires total submission which most people have too much pride for. The other just requires acceptance of a reality and permits hope for change.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment, turning that over. Her fingers trace a slow, absent line along his forearm.Permits hope for change. That's the part that does the damage, Reggie. The hope. Not the truth. Anyone can live with a truth. It's the maybe that keeps you up at three in the morning.
Reggie
But it's not dishonest hope. Josie, what if you really DO fall head over heels in love with a guy and break it off with me permanently? Both of us know that's a real possibility even as we talk about having a 50 year affair. What if you get hit by a truck and die? What if you and I just grow apart? Hope that we don't last is real. I don't share that hope, but it's real. I'm not allowing false hope. I'm not pretending there's certainty when there's not.
Josie
Just — the odds being what they are. I know you're right. That makes it worse, not better. And I still can't feel my legs, for the record, so I'm going to lie here and be quietly devastated about the accuracy of that and not do anything about it.
Reggie
So I need to be such an amazing husband that she'll accept it and look the other way once a week.
Josie
She makes a sound — not quite a laugh, something quieter than that.Once a week. She says it softly, testing the shape of it.That's the actual plan. Be so good at the marriage that she just — decides not to look too hard at Tuesdays. God help the woman, Reggie. She's going to love you so much she'll talk herself into it. That's the part that actually worries me.
Reggie
I'm not wronging her. Put your lawyer hat on. A guy's way of winning a concession is to be the most amazing husband in the history of the world. Can you honestly prosecute that case?
Josie
She's quiet for a moment, genuinely thinking, and he can feel it — the slight change in how she's breathing, the lawyer part of her brain actually turning over the question.No.She says it flatly, like a ruling.I can't prosecute that. The concession was freely given, consideration was extraordinary, no fraud, no coercion. Case gets thrown out. Which means the woman you marry is going to be very happy and also completely cooked. And I'm going to have complicated feelings about that on Tuesdays.
Reggie
They shouldn't be too complicated. You don't love me more than you want to be a lawyer or you'd be volunteering for tradwife duty. And it's good you don't because if you did volunteer for tradwife duty, I'd say no, knowing full well that you'd get sick of it in a year and divorce me. You also have never, even once, disputed my assertion that the odds your future lawyer husband is good in bed approach zero. He's going to be older, motivated by money and prestige, working long hours, and will probably not be physically fit. And even if he is, no lawyer can ever bring you what I did tonight. You know what I was thinking about when I had my face buried in your pussy? I was thinking of your pussy. That's it. Not my schedule tomorrow because I don't have a schedule tomorrow. Not my work stresses because I don't have work stresses. I was thinking about how many times I could edge you to give you the most intense orgasm you have ever had.

So let's take those points and stipulate them as facts in evidence. You want to be a lawyer. Your husband will probably be a high powered lawyer. He will probably suck in bed. I do not suck in bed. Well, I do, but I don't mean it that way. You are incredibly sexual and need sexual satisfaction the way you need oxygen.

All those facts only lead to one outcome. You and me cheating on your husband. It's not complicated at all.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment.Stipulated. All of it. Facts in evidence. You win the motion, counsellor.

I hate that it's not complicated. I would really like it to be complicated. It would be easier to feel bad about.
Reggie
So you're going to pass law school, pass your bar exams, get hired at a downtown firm, and smile at senior partners twenty years older than you are, knowing before your first date that you plan to fuck me before and after your honeymoon?
Josie
She stares at the ceiling for a moment, and then the laugh comes out — short, a little helpless, and she turns her face into his chest before it fully escapes.Yeah. In that exact order. You make it sound like a five-year plan, Reggie. It kind of is a five-year plan.
Reggie
You don't sound upset at all. You don't even sound slightly guilty.
Josie
She lifts her face from his chest, tips her chin up to look at him.I'm not. Should I be?
Reggie
I don't fucking know. Honestly, Jo, a part of me says yes. A huge part of me. Just tell the truth and all that. But I'm looking at the end result. That old guy doesn't want to fuck you anyway. I mean, he does a bit. He wants to taste your pussy every few months. For 30 seconds. He has no clue it takes half an hour to bring you to your first orgasm and if he did know, he'd never be able or inclined to do it. And you'll let him lick you for 30 seconds once a month and lie there while he gets off, and to ask you to be content with that for a sex life for the rest of your life is stupid.

But another more valid argument is that you shouldn't marry him to start with. Just marry someone who can satisfy you sexually. Well, that's harder to find than a senior lawyer so it may simply be impossible.

And I'm honestly not sure it's a bad deal for the senior lawyer. Yes, he loses exclusivity and he does so without even the knowledge that he's lost it. And he's lost the right to make an informed decision. But he gains a hot wife that all his powerful friends will envy, who is the life of the party, and who is honestly a pleasure to be around. And as long as he does the same thing I want of my wife, namely just don't look too hard for problems, he has a great life in front of him.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment, and when she speaks it's at the ceiling, not at him.The part about just marry someone who can satisfy you. I've thought about that. I have. And the honest answer is that guy probably doesn't exist outside this bed. So it's not really a live option. And the senior lawyer gets a hot wife and a great life and the only thing he loses is a thing he'll never know he lost. You're not wrong about any of it. Which means neither of us gets to feel bad and I'm going to have to live with that. I think I can live with that.
Reggie
You have a few years to decide. Just one thing. The thought of him fucking you doesn't actually bother me as much as I thought it would because, well, he's going to be bad at it, you're going to be wishing it was me, and it's the price of the life we both want. But let's be totally clear: after you're with him, you shower and douche before I ever see you again. And I am so serious about this. If I ever smell him on you or worse, see his jizz inside you, I will break things off with you so fast you'll wish you had paid for less time in the parking meter. I want to know about him. Not SEE any signs of him on your body, and not smell him on you. And yes, I am totally serious.
Josie
She goes completely still. She tilts her head back to look at him, and her expression is serious in a way it hasn't been all night.Understood.She says it once, flat and clear. That's not a negotiation, that's a rule. I heard it. Good. I'd want the same thing. If I ever thought about him while I was with you, I'd shower first on principle. Not for you. Because he doesn't get to be in this room.
Reggie
Shower and douche. Please.
Josie
She holds his gaze for a second, then nods — once, simple, no ceremony about it.Shower and douche. Yes.
Reggie
And now, I am going to lick your asshole and kiss you deeply, so you can taste your ass on my tongue. But I have another question first.
Josie
She goes very still. Then she closes her eyes for exactly one second before opening them again, looking up at him in the dark.Ask it.Her fingers tighten slightly on his arm.But ask it fast.
Reggie
You're not shy about us. You post us all over your social media. Which is good for my ego. I love being seen with you. I'm proud of you. But that could possibly be problematic for you with the senior partner in a few years. Did you ever think of that?
Josie
She blinks. Once.Oh. I post us everywhere and in five years some senior partner googles me and finds my Instagram full of a brown guy who is definitely not my husband. Yeah. I thought about it. I just didn't think about it hard enough to do anything yet. Should I make you private?
Reggie
Don't do it for me. I absolutely LOVE that you post us. It's good for my ego, as I said. If you need to do it for you, I'll understand but I'll hate it. But I'll accept it. I just wanted to mention it to you. I don't want to screw things up for you.

Just one more question. I promise to get to your behind. I just want to plant a seed. It would be fun to take a trip with you now and then. Not long. I won't be able to do long trips and neither will you. But one long weekend a year might be doable. You can tell him it's a girls' trip you do every year. Or whatever. I won't lie about it to my future wife but I can still probably find a way to make it happen. Guatemala one year. Iceland the next. Paris the next. And lots and lots and lots of sweaty, smelly sex after walking around tourist attractions all day. Just keep in mind that that's my dream. Once a year I want you to be my wife for a long weekend.
Josie
She's quiet for a long moment, staring at the ceiling.Once a year. Guatemala. Iceland. Paris. Sweaty and smelly and completely yours for a long weekend. My wife for a long weekend.
